Job Title: FHA Loan Underwriter
This position is for a Government/FHA Loan Underwriter in our Burlingame, CA headquarters location. Quatrro Processing Solutions is a wholly owned Business Unit of Quatrro, Inc. As an FHA Underwriter you will be responsible for managing and monitoring daily workflow. Act as the subject matter expert on investor’s loan guidelines and internal underwriting procedures. Make sound underwriting decisions on large and complex loans regarding credit worthiness of Borrowers. Relay these decisions in a professional manner to Brokers, Account Executives and internal staff.
Responsibilities:
• Review and analyze all areas of the mortgage loan application to ensure accuracy, completeness, and in compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines
• Run applicable AUS and interpret findings
• Review and sign off conditions as needed per Loan Approval
• Prioritize and monitor workflow to meet established deadlines
• Ensure compliance, underwriting guidelines, and secondary market or investor sale ability
• Knowledge of product guidelines, insurance requirements and state and federal regulations
• Ensure system is in place to track loans and track follow up items in a timely fashion
• Interact with Brokers, Account Executives and Loan Officers. Provide detail oriented oral and written communication to Staff, Brokers and Account Executives
• Work closely with other departments and find timely resolutions to defective loans
• Interact with Secondary Marketing, Wholesale, Retail, Accounting, Servicing, Shipping and Quality Control
• Provide timely responses to Quality Control Audits
• Maintain high degree of confidentiality
• Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting other team members and management as needed.
Qualifications:
• A MINIMUM of 2 years experience as a FHA Underwriter for purchase and refinance transactions is required
• Preferred VA Underwriter for purchase and refinance transactions
• Direct Endorsement (DE) is strongly preferred
• A MINIMUM of 3-5 years prior experience as an underwriter
• Thorough understanding of underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures of FHA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
• Experience in underwriting Govt. and State Housing products is required
• Experience with appraisals and other collateral documents
• Prior experience working with multiple investor guidelines
• Excellent customer service skills
• Knowledge of key LOS systems like PcLender, DataTrac, CalyxPoint, Encompass
• Knowledge of key underwriting systems like DU & LP
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work productively in a fast paced environment
