Job Description:
Title: DE Underwriter - Brea, CA
Location: CA-BreaUnderwrites residential mortgage loans in accordance with FHA/HUD and internal guidelines ensuring compliance with company and investor standards. Has current in-depth experience and complete knowledge of FHA/VA lending guidelines and understands how those relate to internal and investor guidelines.
Able to clearly communicate FHA/VA, corporate, and investor guidelines to customers, loan processors, and sales associates. Able to make timely, accurate decisions on all FHA/VA transactions. Acts as secondary review and escalation point for conventional loans and government loans. Has thorough knowledge of complex personal and business financial analysis and expertise in tax return and balance sheet analysis.
May provide training/mentoring to underwriters, loan processors, and sales associates. Must have valid DE/CHUMS ID.Underwrites large or more difficult/complex residential loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards. Examines loan documentation for accuracy and completeness. Works with loan originator or production staff to secure all required documents. May provide training and direction to more junior staff.
Have authority to withdraw and decline loans. May develop and recommend modifications to underwriting and production procedures.
Responsibilities include one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional, government-backed, etc.) May respond to individual and investor audits.
Required Skills: Must have DE and Chums number.Minimum 3-5 years Conventional Underwriter experienceDE (Government) Underwriting experience required.
Desired Skills: VA underwriting experience desired
