Credit Analyst/Underwriter

Location: US-TX-Richardson
Job Purpose:
Analyze financial information and assess the risk of offering credit to individuals. Market, train, counsel, advise, and communicate credit department policy and procedures to external and internal members. An active participant of the Consumer Lending Organization consisting of Equity Lending, Direct Lending, and Indirect Lending. Actively participates and communicates in the team-based work groups that make up the credit department.
Responsibilities:
Working within the credit union’s consumer credit program consistent with strategic initiatives, governing consumer credit laws, rules and regulations.

Meet with your manager (scheduled one on one) weekly and participate in team meetings monthly (all meeting minutes to be documented and shared with CLO).

Participate in analyzing data to evaluate the present and future status of consumer loan production, products, policies and procedures.

Provide member service and develops relationships with internal and external members.

Participates in achieving strategic initiatives and consumer lending goals. Follows a clear plan of action to achieve stated goals in all areas.

Assist Lending Manager with reports, communications and special projects.

Promotes and cross-sells credit union services/products that are beneficial to
the member.

Achieve measurable goals and other duties as necessary to achieve the goals of the credit union and department.

Maintain response time on loan decisions of under 30 minutes. Originate a minimum of $5M per month in loans within current underwriting guidelines.

Interpersonal Characteristics and Technical Qualifications:
Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:
Working knowledge of a variety of financial products and services; excellent member service skills; exceptional interpersonal and oral communication skills; extensive knowledge in the areas of Truth-in-Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act as well as a supporting knowledge in market trends in the area of Consumer lending.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Business.

Experience: Minimum 5 years or more of similar or related experience.
