Position Overview
The Underwriting position is responsible for underwriting all in-house programs for FHA, VA, and Conventional loans according to American Equity Mortgage’s high standards and expectations.

Qualifications:
•Previous mortgage underwriting experience required
•Excellent mathematical and problem solving skills
•Ability to adapt to constant change
•Work with extremely high integriy and ethical standards
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
•Excellent interpersonal skills
•Self-motivated and goal oriented
Responsibilities:
•Underwriting of conforming, non-conforming, FHA, and VA loans
•Performing pre-approvals and pre-determinations of the loan’s ability to fit into a program on a preliminary basis
•Performing final approvals and reviewing the entire loan file through verifications processes, including adherence to investor guidelines and compliance
•Providing impeccable customer service to loan officers, branch managers and others within the organization on pending files to accommodate borrowers’ lending needs
•Ensuring 100% adherence to all new and existing guidelines and investor programs
