Clayton is seeking experienced Contract Mortgage Underwriters Needed in our offices in Tampa, Florida.
Full Time opportunity for anyone that is able to be local to the area as there is no travel compensation available.
What You’d be Doing:
Performing due diligence underwriting, portfolio analysis and compliance reviews on loan files submitted from various financial institutions including reviewing for completeness and accuracy and analyzing credit documents like mortgage applications, credit history, income documents, title documents and appraisals.
Adhering to all client/lender policies and procedures, in addition to Federal, State and/or municipal laws and regulations within the due diligence process.
Identifying portfolio risks resulting from clients’ underlying business practices, underwriting and/or fraud exposure.
Supporting the decisions and knowledge of supervisors and colleagues by sharing information about the business unit, organization and the underwriting industry.
Taking an active role in identifying potential challenges within the underwriting process and/or department and making recommendations for improvements.
Maintaining knowledge of applicable underwriting guidelines by completing all training programs and staying abreast of business unit policy and/or guidelines.
Experience:
Knowledge/familiarity with current mortgage and compliance laws and regulations.
